Where in the world is Abra?

Abra is available worldwide.* Currently, people in more than 100 countries have downloaded and are using Abra wallets, and the list is growing every day.

Abra is a new kind of financial platform that enables access to new ways of making peer-to-peer payment, more accessible and easy to use investing tools, and eventually other forms of finance that will become enabled by cryptocurrencies broadly, and Abra’s unique technology specifically.

Abra is free to download and it’s super simple to set up a secure wallet.

Funding options by region

Really the only thing that changes about Abra as you move across the world is the funding methods that are available. We are actively working on providing more options for funding wallets in more places.

Here is a list of current funding options based on region.

United States

Link a U.S. bank account. It’s pretty simple to link a U.S.-based bank account and enable both deposits and withdrawals.

Use an American Express card. American Express cardholders can make deposits to an Abra wallet using an Amex account.

Use a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card. Both credit and debit cards can be linked to an Abra wallet for deposits.

Transfer bitcoin, litecoin, or bitcoin cash (more coins on the way) from an external crypto wallet and then use that crypto to trade for other assets listed on Abra. It’s also possible to move bitcoin, litecoin, and bitcoin cash from Abra to other wallets.

Wire transfers can be set up through U.S.-based banks and are a secure way to deposit and withdraw large transactions.

Phillippines

Abra has established banking relationships in the Phillippines, so Abra users can connect a bank account to deposit and withdraw from their wallet.

Use a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card to deposit fiat currency into an Abra wallet.

Users can also deposit and withdraw bitcoin, litecoin, or bitcoin cash from any external wallet into and out of Abra.

What can an Abra wallet do?

We also get asked a lot about what you can do with an Abra wallet.

Abra’s vision is to open access to the global financial system and drive greater financial inclusion.

Using programmable money as a new protocol, Abra is paving the way for the use of innovative decentralized financial products by everyday consumers. Today Abra wallet users can:

  • Invest. Abra’s smart contract-based investment platform allows its users to have fractional ownership over many asset types. Today Abra users can buy, sell and hold over 30 cryptocurrencies, 50 fiat currencies and the new  BIT10,  the world’s first easily accessible crypto index.
  • Pay. Frictionless and fee free, Abra’s peer-to-peer capability allows users to instantly send and receive money (fiat or cryptocurrencies) to anyone, anywhere in the world.
  • Be the bank.  Abra is based on a non-custodial wallet architecture, which means it doesn’t control or have access to users’ funds. Instead, they are secured on the blockchain and accessible only by a user’s unique recovery phrase.
